WhyChooseISKA
Discover excellence in traditional Shotokan Karate with ISKA,an association dedicated to preserving the authentic spirit of Karate-do while embracing innovation and modern training methods.
ISKA Mission Statement
Keep Training with Honor & Respect.
Our Philosophy
ISKA believes in a hybrid approach that combines traditional Karate values with modern sports Karate techniques, respecting the heritage of Master Gichin Funakoshi while embracing the evolution of competitive Karate under the World Karate Federation (WKF). We believe Karate deserves a permanent place in the Olympic Games.
As expressed in the philosophy attributed to Master Gichin Funakoshi:
Take my training as a reference; do not follow my training 100%. You have to research new ideas of training and techniques of Karate-do for its developments.
Inspired by this philosophy, ISKA encourages instructors to explore, research, and develop new training methods rather than simply repeating the practices of previous generations. We do not impose barriers that restrict instructors to traditional methods alone. Instead, we respect individual teaching approaches and welcome innovation in training, techniques, and technical development while preserving the fundamental principles of Karate-do.
ISKA believes that Karate must continue to evolve through research, experimentation, and continuous improvement. By combining traditional wisdom with modern knowledge, we aim to keep Karate effective, relevant, and inspiring for future generations.
At ISKA, tradition is our foundation, innovation is our strength, and continuous research is our future.
